Carlon P. Ami II

Banner - About
Carlon P. Ami II is a jeweler and two-dimensional artist of Navajo, Tewa, and Hopi lineage. His studio is nestled at the base of the Chuska Mountains in the heart of the Navajo Nation. While Carlon's silverwork includes exquisite overlay, inlay, and volcanic tuff work, his two-dimensional charcoal and acrylic pieces highlight his ability to capture the idealized classical human form.

Growing up on the Navajo Reservation and within driving distance of the Hopi Mesas, Carlon's work is informed not only by his cultural background but also by his experience as an eleven year veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to these lived experiences, Carlon holds two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees from Diné College, one in Navajo Silversmithing and the second in Traditional Painting. Currently, he is pursuing a M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Art History.

Carlon has garnered ribbons at local and regional juried art market competitions, including the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum's Indian Fair and Market, and the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial. In addition to purchasing directly from Carlon, his work is also sold at the Faust Gallery in Santa Fe, NM and Scottsdale, AZ.

It is Carlon's hope that every time you wear your necklace, bracelet, earrings or see your painting as you drink your coffee that you are just as happy with it as you were the day the metal first touched your skin or the canvas went up on your wall.
